MERV, which stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, measures how efficiently air filters remove particles from the air. MERV ratings range from 1-20; the higher the number, the greater percentage of pollutants the filter blocks. Selecting the right rating is important, as it will ensure both a) the right amount of bacteria is removed from your air, and b) your HVAC works properly.
