There is nothing more important than the air that we breathe, and for us at FilterBuy.com, clean air is our mission. While we do our best to provide the products necessary to keep the air in your home or office as clean as possible, it is going to take a unified effort as a society in order to really clean up our environment.
Our Goal:
FilterBuy.com is proud to provide some financial assistance to a deserving environmentally focused student. We are offering two scholarships every year, one for each semester.
The Challenge:
One of the things that we have learned is that, given the choice, most people will choose to act in a sustainable, less environmentally destructive way. However, lack of knowledge and convenience often stand in the way of making the right decisions.
For our inaugural scholarship, we want to focus on greenhouse gases and the ways in which we can choose to mitigate our own personal contribution. We all know of some of the obvious suggestions like carpooling to work or taking the subway instead of a cab, but there are many more subtle decisions that we make each and every day without even thinking about it. For example, do you check if the vegetables you are purchasing at your supermarket were grown locally or imported from another country, burning fossil fuels in the process?
To apply for the FilterBuy.com scholarship, we are looking for a 500-word essay on simple life changes that can go a long way to reducing an individual’s emissions of greenhouse gases.
Submission instructions:
• In a Microsoft Word file, create a 400 to 600-word essay on everyday tips that can be implemented to reduce our individual contribution to greenhouse gas emission.
• Submit your essays to scholarships [@] filterbuy.com before the following deadlines:
o Fall semester deadline date: August 15, 2016 – winner will be announced September 1, 2016
o Spring semester deadline date: January 15, 2017 – winner will be announced February 1, 2017
• Only 1 submission per person
• Email must include: Full Name, Address, Phone, School Name, GPA, Date of Birth, & Parent/Guardian Name (if under 18)
Requirements
• Must be currently enrolled students at an accredited two or four-year college within the United States
• Must be a legal resident of the United States or hold a valid student visa
Scholarship Value:
The student with the most original, well-written submission as judged by the editorial staff at FilterBuy.com will be awarded a $500 USD scholarship.
The winning submission will be featured on our blog and social media pages. A formal confirmation email will also be sent.
