What We Learned Building This Filter

We cut, pleat, and frame this filter in our own US plants, so the media spec is ours to set. Here's something the label never tells you.

Pleat count per foot drops as filters get deeper. Across our MERV 13 line it runs 16 pleats per foot at one inch, 14 at two inches, and 11 at four. That sounds backwards until you do the arithmetic. Deeper pleats need more space between them, but each one holds far more media.

A 16x30x2 carries roughly 13 square feet of media behind a 3.2 square foot opening. The one-inch version of the same filter carries about 7. That extra media is what lets a two-inch filter go the full interval.
