Most wildfire maps answer a question Enterprise homeowners rarely need: where is the fire? Out here, it seldom is. What matters is when the smoke reaches your street, and what that means for the filter in your return. The live Filterbuy wildfire and smoke map above tracks active fires and plumes for Enterprise, NV, updated hourly from EPA AirNow, NOAA satellite smoke, and federal fire-perimeter data. Almost all smoke here is imported from the Spring Mountains, Southern California, or the Great Basin, so a clear map does not mean clean air. When it arrives: close the house, set the HVAC to recirculate, run a MERV 13 with the fan on, and check the filter weekly.
Enterprise has almost no burnable fuel of its own. The nearest conifer forest is the Spring Mountains, 20 to 40 miles west and northwest.
Clark County's closest regulatory monitor sits inside Enterprise: Mountains Edge, which holds the county's highest ozone design value. The Jean site, 30 miles south, is the upwind sentinel for Southern California smoke, and watching it buys hours.
Clark County runs a season-long wildfire smoke advisory April 1 through September 30, its fourth consecutive year in 2026.

Usually not. Enterprise is 66 square miles of Mojave desert and post-2000 subdivisions with no forest inside town limits, so haze here almost always started elsewhere. It sits on the valley's southwest rim at 2,552 feet, first in line for smoke on southwest flow. Most people check the monitor nearest their house; Filterbuy reads the county network in a different order.
Check Jean first. Clark County describes its Jean site, 30 miles south on SR-161, as an upwind background site for monitoring transport from Southern California. That is the county stating in its own documents that Jean sees it first. When Jean climbs while the valley is still clear, close up and swap the filter then.
Then check Mountains Edge, your own monitor. The nearest regulatory site to Enterprise is in Enterprise: Mountains Edge (AQS 32-003-0044), 8101 W. Mountains Edge Parkway. It holds Clark County's highest ozone design value for 2022–2024, at 73 ppb. Watch both on the Clark County air quality map. On north or east flow, the order reverses, and Enterprise is affected last.
Below 50, air the house out. Past 100, sensitive households (kids, older adults, anyone with asthma, COPD, or heart disease) should cut outdoor exertion. Past 150, close up, recirculate, and get the fan off Auto. Past 200, build a clean room. The pollutant driving the number during smoke is PM2.5: particles 2.5 micrometers or smaller, roughly 30 times finer than a human hair.
Those thresholds are the same everywhere. Which pollutant you are looking at is not. Clark County logged 18 ozone exceedance days in 2025, down from 25 in 2024, and this corner of the valley produces its worst ozone readings, so a high number here is as likely to be smog as smoke. Ozone falls after sundown, and a filter does nothing for it. Smoke lingers for days. Ozone means wait. Smoke means filter. See the live Las Vegas AQI map.
Seal the house first, then filter. A MERV 13 cannot outrun an open window. Six steps, about twenty minutes.
Close the envelope. Windows, doors, fireplace damper, pet doors. Towel the garage door gap, the leakiest path to outside air in a two-story Enterprise home.
Switch the HVAC to recirculate and close the fresh-air intake.
Move the thermostat fan from Auto to On. EPA notes this can cut indoor PM2.5 by roughly half.

Build one clean room. Add a portable HEPA cleaner to the bedroom, sized so its smoke CADR is two-thirds of the room's area. In a controlled study, adding one MERV 13 central filtration cut the indoor-to-outdoor PM2.5 ratio from 0.55 to 0.22.

Enterprise grew 46% between 2017 and 2022, nearly all of it built with refrigerated central air, so the evaporative-cooler advice filling most Las Vegas smoke guides misses here. A sealed, recirculating system is what EPA's wildfire guidance assumes, and newer blowers handle MERV 13 without trouble.
The catch is the cabinet. Many Enterprise homes have a 4-inch or 5-inch media cabinet instead of a 1-inch slot. A 1-inch filter gets changed because you see it; a cabinet gets opened once a year, fine for dust and useless during smoke. Open it in April, write the size on the frame, and keep a spare, because deep-cabinet depths are what big-box stores are least likely to stock.
MERV 13 is the highest rating most residential systems run safely. Confirm your blower handles it first.

It will not remove the gases. Smoke is particles and gases; MERV media catches particles. If the house smells smoky with a clean MERV 13 in, that is the gas fraction, not a failed filter. A carbon filter such as Filterbuy's Odor Eliminator helps with odor.
It will not beat the heat. In a 110-degree July, shutting down cooling to avoid outside air is the more dangerous trade. Run on recirculate with the best filter you have; if you cannot stay cool at home, go somewhere you can.
Enterprise reads the mountains out the back window and treats a clear ridge as an all-clear. Wrong instrument. The smoke reaching this side of the valley usually crossed a state line hours earlier, and Jean already knew.
